PREP ROUNDUP: East Limestone sweeps Arab to advance to second round of playoffs - Yahoo Sports

Apr. 25—CAPSHAW — East Limestone continued its strong baseball season on Friday, sweeping its first-round playoff series with Arab 2-0.

The Indians defeated the Knights 4-0 in game one and 13-1 in game two.

In game one, pitcher Charlie Eslick was dominant on the mound, allowing just one hit and striking out 10 batters in seven innings. Landon Compton led at the plate with two hits and two RBIs, while Cade Parham had a hit and an RBI.

In game two the Indians team were dominant late, scoring 12 runs in the final two innings.

Compton homered and finished with two hits and three RBIs and Parham had three hits. Brodie Coker added two hits and two RBIs and Alex Adkins had a hit and three RBIs.

With the sweep, East Limestone moves to 23-8 on the season. The Indians advance to the second round of the playoffs where they will host Lincoln. — Athens Bible 16. Lynn 4: Athens Bible raced past Lynn Friday in game three of the Trojans’ first-round playoff series.

Ethan Barnes drove in three runs on five hits, while Chandler James had four hits, including a home run, and three RBIs. Jake Banta added three hits and two RBIs and Luke Murrell got the win on the mound, allowing two hits and four runs with 15 strikeouts.

Athens Bible advances to the second round of the Class 1A playoffs where it will face the winner of Waterloo and Skyline.

North Sand Mountain 10, Decatur Heritage 1: Decatur Heritage was eliminated Friday from the Class 2A playoffs after falling in game three of its first-round playoff series.

Briley Barron led the Eagles with two hits and an RBI.

Austin 5, Florence 2: Trey Harville had two hits, an RBI and scored two runs, while Paxton Branum had a hit and two RBIs in a big area win.

Levi Morgan added two hits and scored two runs.

West Morgan 7, Central-Florence 6: Ailey Sackett hit a walk-off home run Friday to lead the Rebels to a big win.

Sackett finished with two hits and an RBI. Chasity Rikard and Payson Terry also had home runs with Rikard having two hits and three RBIs and Terry having two hits and an RBI. — Lawrence County 7, Southside 6: Bella Cross hit two home runs in a big win.

Cross finished with three hits and four RBIs, while Maggie Graham and LA Norwood each had two hits.

Athens 8, Danville 3: Abby Lopez and Lexie Thornton each had three hits and two RBIs to lead Athens.

Addi Hill led Danville with two hits.

Lawrence County 7, West Morgan 1: Ava Templeton had three hits and an RBI in a win for the Red Devils.

LA Norwood added a hit and two RBIs.

Athens Bible 11, Giles County 2: Hadley Robinson homered and drove in three runs in an easy win for the Trojans.

Hannah Robinson added a hit and three RBI, while Alyssa Butler had two hits and two RBIs.

Lindsay Lane 15, Buckhorn 7: Briley Miller had three hits and three RBIs for Lindsay Lane as the Lions cruised to a win.

Aubrey Burgreen finished with two hits and four RBIs.

West Limestone 1, Madison Academy 1: Anna Hardiman pitched a complete game for West Limestone in a tie, allowing eight hits and one run with four strikeouts.

Aubrey Bethune had a hit and an RBI at the plate.

Chelsea 8, Austin 3: Khalilah Mason led Austin with two hits.

Hewitt-Trussville 7, Ardmore 5: Piper Abott homered and finished with two hits and four RBIs to lead Ardmore.

Central-Phenix 5, Hartselle 4: RC Wolf hit a home run and drove in three runs to lead Hartselle.

James Clemens 10, Danville 1: Addi Hill led Danville with a hit and an RBI.

McAdory 7, Austin 4: Arden Breedlove led Austin with two hits, including a home run, and two RBIs.

Cherokee County 3, Athens 1: Rayne Brewer hit a solo home run to lead Athens.

Decatur’s girls placed second at the Class 6A state tournament in Mobile with 38 points, finishing runner-up to Mountain Brook who won with 68 points.

Hartselle came in fifth with 31 points.

Decatur’s Katherine Botto and Annie Pylant, along with Hartselle’s Gabby Guice, each advanced to the state finals in their respective flights. Hartselle’s Caroline Sparks and Lily Reese, as well as Decatur’s Pylant and Evelyn Burnett, advanced to the state state finals in doubles competition.
