Early look at a Spurs Potential Draft Board (June/July)
Well, as usual, I think we could still use more 3-point shooting, and we may also want to build our depth up front, especially concerning the off/def glass, and a double down on defense with additional bulk/strength and/or length/lateral mobility, and/or play making (or something else that would add to and/or further diversify our rotations).
In terms of the upcoming draft, we have four picks, but some of this depends on the max the Spurs would consider drafting (1, 2, 3, or 4 picks). At present, it appears that we are expected to have pick considerations at #19, #35, #42, and #44.
For now, I’m just going to list about nine players that I like and feel, at the surface level, would be a good fit with the SAS. I list them in order of preference. Also, I will NOT list players that I like if I do not believe they will remain on the board by pick #19 (i.e., Lendeborg, Steinbach).
Personally, I do not think the Spurs will keep more than two draft picks (unless a development project). But, here’s who I like, so far, though this could change to some extent over the next month or two.
#19 (Jefferson, Johnson Jr., Graves)
#35 (Karaban, Sandfort)
#42 (Ejiofor, Momcilovic)
#44 (Tugler, Byrd)
