2026 NFL Draft picks, results: Steelers select Penn State QB Drew Allar as potential Aaron Rodgers insurance; Cardinals draft Carson Beck – Yahoo Sports

Posted on April 25, 2026

After an intriguing, trade-heavy Round 1 of the 2026 NFL Draft, the league followed up with plenty of interesting picks in Rounds 2 and 3 on Friday.

There was some heart-warming action early in the round. Kayden McDonald, who was selected by the Texans 36th overall after waiting through the first round, was overcome with emotion as he made his walk to the stage. In another feel-good moment, cornerback Avieon Terrell shared a long embrace with his brother A.J. Terrell, a cornerback for the Atlanta Falcons, after the two became teammates.

In the third round, we finally saw a few more quarterbacks go off the board after Fernando Mendoza and Ty Simpson were picked in the first round. The Cardinals took Miami’s Carson Beck to open the third round, followed by Penn State QB Drew Allar getting selected by the Steelers 76th overall.

There’s still plenty of talent on the board heading into Rounds 4-7, which take place on Saturday. Among the best players available from our Yahoo Sports consensus big board is Tennessee CB Jermod McCoy, whose draft stock has fallen past the first two days after missing last season with a torn ACL, and LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier.

Check out the full list of picks from Rounds 1, 2 and 3 here.

No. 98, Minnesota Vikings: Jakobe Thomas, S, Miami
No. 99, Seattle Seahawks: Julian Neal, CB, Arkansas
No. 100, Jacksonville Jaguars: Jalen Huskey, S, Maryland

The Jaguars need to hit on their picks, because they’re mostly running back the same team that lost in the wild-card round.

Grade: C-

The Seahawks needed to address corner, and Neal is good in zone systems with decent size. He’s a different flavor from what they’ve had on the outside.

Grade: C+

Older prospect, but a ballhawk and good value at this spot. It’ll be interesting to see where Brian Flores uses this playmaker in his defense.

Grade: B

Tiernan has clean footwork and is a good technician, though he needs to work on sustaining in his blocks. Good athlete that should help Kyler Murray and Kevin O’Connell’s offense, and might even be able to stay out at left tackle.

Grade: B+

Three defensive picks closed out Round 3:

Pick No. 98, Minnesota Vikings: Jakobe Thomas, S, Miami

Pick No. 99, Seattle Seahawks: Julian Neal, CB, Arkansas

Pick No. 100, Jacksonville Jaguars: Jalen Huskey, S, Maryland

He can play guard and maybe even right tackle. He’s a good mover who generates a lot of power on first contact. Dunker tested pretty well and could have been a late second round pick.

Grade: A-

Raridon can dominate in the run game as a blocker with his big frame (6-7, 252), and he can also stretch the field as a receiver. Health has been a question in the past, but if he can stay on the field, he’ll play a key role for Drake Maye and that offense.

Grade: B+

The Pittsburgh Steelers use their third-round compensatory pick on another offensive lineman, this time Iowa guard Gennings Dunker, filling in a gap left by departing free agent Isaac Seumalo.

Dunker is the classic Iowa offensive lineman. He can play right tackle but might have his skill set maximized as a guard in the NFL, where he can be a bit more scheme-diverse. Regardless, he has high upside as another offensive lineman who showed out at the scouting combine.

Bell might not be ready to be a high-volume contributor for a year or two, due to his recovery from a torn ACL and developmental needs, but the raw ability is there. He can win against press man and run a vertical route tree, and he’s good with ball in his hands. He may well end up the best pass-catcher the Dolphins draft this year.

Grade: B

A seven-year (!) college player, he can play guard or tackle, though there are questions about how much potential there is to tap into. The Rams can get the most out of him, though.

Grade: C+

He reminds you of a less athletic version of YaYa Diaby, and not much else. The Cowboys are throwing resources at their pass rush room though, so the fit is obvious.

Grade: C

Tiernan has an unusual build considering he’s 6-8, 323 pounds with 32-inch arms, but he’s a quality blocker who might have a future at guard if the length issues inhibit him at tackle. He’s not the smoothest mover, but he’s explosive in short spaces and can generate a lot of force on first impact.

Zuhn has some positional flexibility, which you look for at this point in the draft. The Raiders don’t need him at center after signing Tyler Linderbaum, but maybe he can transition to guard. Either way, a good idea to continue to try to protect Fernando Mendoza.

Grade: B-

He can pass protect and has some juice in the run game, but upside is limited. Kyle Shanahan loves his Day 2 running backs.

Grade: C

Thomas is fast and might be able to pull things open for the Bears’ other WRs, but he didn’t jump out on tape in college. He can contribute in the return game, though.

Grade: C

Tennessee cornerback Jermod McCoy, a projected first-round pick based on talent, but concerning medicals have him continuing to fall down the draft board.

Reports this week indicated that though there are no concerns about his surgically repaired ACL that knocked him out for the 2025 season. But there are reported concerns about the potential need for another surgery to repair a bone plug used to repair a cartilage defect in his knee, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported.

An older prospect with huge hands and good length, he’ll be better in the run game for the Jaguars than the passing game, but he fills a need in a solid way. Good range for him too.

Grade: B

A true Y-TE, meaning he will block and do it well. This landing spot matches his talent.

Grade: B

Bell is if Adonis played wide receiver. A player with a top-shelf combination of height, weight and burst, Bell made Miami’s defense look slow once the ball was in his hands. He is still raw as a route runner and benefits from routes that let him build up his speed and not have him do too many nuanced breaks, but he can snatch the football without breaking stride with his big hands (10 inches at the combine) and he eats up yards after the catch with his size and explosive athleticism.

Bell is more of a force of nature than a wide receiver at this point. He suffered an ACL injury and is still a raw player, but there is a fun bundle of tools to work with if the Dolphins can be patient with his development.

Good size, nice mover and started a lot of games in college. He could well hang as a left tackle in the NFL, but at worst could be a swing tackle. Another dart throw at OL for the Browns.

Grade: B-
